Popcap has just released a new version of Bejeweled Blitz for the iOS (no Android version reported yet). Unlike the Bejeweled 2 (which also have Blitz mode included), it is a purely only Blitz mode. What is the Blitz mode? Its a 1-minute game play mode that you try and score as many points as you can and you will able to compare scores with your online friends (on Facebook and Google+). If you have played it on Facebook (FB) or Google+ (G+) and also on your iDevice, you should know that many of the features that you are able to play on FB and G+ are not available on the Bejeweled 2 Blitz (B2B) app previously.
Well, the new Blitz-only version have all (all?) the features available, namely the Daily Spin, the boost purchase, and the rare gems. The B2B app also had boost and rare gems, but the rare gems were confined to the Phoenix Prism gem, Cat's Eye gem and Moonstone gem. They have recently added a new rare gem to the FB and G+ app that is called the Blazing Steed gem. I have yet to see it on the new Blitz-only version though. But the daily spin feature would certainly be the most welcomed feature in this new version. Rather than have to go to their FB or G+ accounts to spin it daily, users can now do it at the comfort of their iDevices anytime or anywhere.
The graphics are much improved with retina display support and also the sounds have been improved dramatically. In previous B2B versions, sometimes the backgrounds would make game play somewhat difficult to see with this game being a color-orientated. The backgrounds used in this blitz-only version drastically improves vision and definitely a plus, IMHO. There is one small qualm though; I find that the jewels drop slower than the B2B version. It dropping speed is very much like the FB and G+ version and this somehow makes getting high scores a tad more difficult in the 1-minute limited time given. I guess the folks at Popcap figured that why should the iOS version be faster than the FB or G+ versions, all players should have to play it fairly without any advantage from one over the other. Well, Bejeweled Blitz's connectivity to FB and G+ is one of the reasons why I still play this game and certain have very high replay value as long as my other friends are still playing. And did I mention that this new Bejeweled Blitz online version is now available in the AppStore.... FOR FREE!

UPDATE: Bejeweled Blitz has been updated to have speedier gems drop. Make scoring a little easier.
